Hints and Tips on How to Make a Backpacking List

Anyone who goes hiking, walking or camping will know the importance of a good quality backpacking list. Preparation is the cornerstone of every successful trip and starting with a good quality list is at the heart of this. We have all written lists in our time, whether it be chores or jobs lists, things to do lists, or indeed my favourite, goal setting lists.
These generally involve writing specific requirements down on a listed format, and checking them off when you have hopefully completed the task. Compiling a backpacking list takes a little bit more time and effort, however, in the long run, it’s worth it.
The secret to a great list, is to be thorough! You don’t really want to be forgetting something when you are out in the back country, so check and recheck your list, until you are confident that you can cover every eventuality that may arise, with the items that you have.
A second tip is to make sure that you have clear defined categories or headings.
This way you will be able to list every item confidently under that category. This will in turn make for easy packing, as everything will be together.
As time goes by, what you pack, and where in your pack you might pack it, is an ever-changing dynamic that is reflected in your own hiking idiosyncrasies. No Two people hike the same, and no backpack is packed the same. This is why a backpacking list will, and should change as you do. When you are truly comfortable with creating your backpacking list, you will be able to enjoy your hiking trip, confident in the knowledge that you are well prepared.
